No Anxiety for This Election
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
During this election season we are in a time of great national anxiety in the US. People are anxious over the Presidential election, as well as ballot questions such as Question 4 in Florida, which could enshrine abortion in the Florida constitution - the constitution of a very red state. However, we should have no anxiety at all because God is sovereign. If there are mass protests, riots and worse following the election, we should not get involved, because our hope is not in any political party or candidate, but Christ. The Church is the prime institution on earth we belong to, not our nationality, ethnic group or a political party. As long as we have the Church, we should not allow ourselves to get caught up in fruitless political fighting and anxiety.
The fact of the matter is that if, God forbid, the US descended into civil conflict, and the right-wing side won, because the American right does not have a fully Christian conception of political power, it would just devolve back to square one in a matter of a few decades, maybe even years. There is also no king you could possibly appoint that is going to rule perfectly, as even King David committed adultery and murder.
There is only one solution for America: mass conversion to the Catholic Faith. Only the Catholic Faith can sustain Christendom. It requires a massive majority of people to be practicing Catholics. What we are voting on today we vote on to minimize evil and harm, and we are largely trying to just manage the decline of the West as best as possible. We aren’t saving America or anything else with any political party or candidate. 100% of our efforts to save America should be invested in the promulgation of the faith.
America was never a Christian nation. Besides slavery, both the North and South combined to commit mass genocide against the Native Americans, while the Catholic Church prevented similar cleansing in Mexico and South America, which is why their populations have far more native bloodlines in 2024. This is a country that banned interracial marriage until the 1960’s, which was always allowed among Catholic populations. As soon as America got things right on things like equal dignity of mankind, it promptly legalized the genocide of babies, killing tens of millions of innocent people over the past few decades. The left is largely correct when it says “America was never good.” I say this as an Army veteran, and I can tell you almost all the wars we have been involved in were immoral as well. There are only a few conflicts that were truly justified, and they were certainly not OEF or OIF.
America is the abortion and pornography capitol of all mankind. We break records in both categories. America is responsible for a myriad of false religions, including Mormonism, Scientology, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Seventh Day Adventists and various other cults. It has produced countless false denominations, including Pentecostalism, Prosperity churches and cheeseball-tier Evangelical churches with “Pastor Jennifer’s” playing church. Its most conservative Protestant denomination just rejected the Nicene Creed, and was racially segregated until very recent history, and was pro-slavery for much if not most of its existence (the Southern Baptists). America produced the Klan, modern drug epidemic, nuclear weapons, modern biological warfare and modern gender ideology. Its divorce rate is remarkably high, and it's common for Americans to think they are in their third and fourth marriages by the time they’re 60 years old. America was never a shining city upon a hill, so let's stop acting like we have something to restore. There’s nothing to make great again besides maybe our economy and basic law and order.
There’s nothing to restore. America is largely a pagan wasteland to convert. It’s like a new Rome in its waning empire stages that we need to convert. You can’t save America, because it has been extremely crooked and corrupt since Day 1. That’s not to say it has no redeeming qualities, but it was not corrupted because it has always been corrupt and evil.
I personally hope Donald Trump wins, and I will personally be voting for him, because Kamala Harris would do the most harm to the Church and the unborn. She is openly anti-Catholic and believes membership in the Knights of Columbus is an act of disqualification from serving in the government. Trump is by no means a saint, but he doesn’t go this far. But Trump is not a savior. He is more likely than Harris to end the War in Ukraine, but we can’t be sure of how far he will push the current war in the Middle East between Israel and its neighbors and Iran. We can’t be sure of what he will do concerning Taiwan. While I have more confidence in his economic agenda, I don’t think he will do much to prevent a future currency collapse, and I believe he will overspend on the military. I am just doing my part as Pope Francis commanded American Catholics to vote for the lesser of two evils.
Let’s not get too wrapped up in the emotionalism of this election, and the aftermath. Let’s do our best to promote the good among the strife, but be detached from the outcomes and remember that God is sovereign, and He will not allow evil to continue unabated. My favorite aspect of the recent Padre Pio film starring Shia LaBeouf is that a young St. Padre Pio is shown as being detached from the political strife of the socialists and nationalists. He was focused entirely on God, and if the socialists were too they would not have been slain. If the nationalists were too, they would not have irreparably damaged their local city by failing to uphold basic decency and protect the poor, leading to civil conflict. Let us be like St. Padre Pio, and refuse to get caught up in this commotion of the worldly.
